Pinheiros Altos Golf Club Raises Over €145,000 at the 2024 Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Pinheiros Altos Golf Club hosted its 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The event brought together 112 enthusiastic golfers forming 28 teams who participated in a day filled with competitive golf, camaraderie, and charity. Thanks to the generous contributions of the participants and sponsors, the tournament raised over €145,000 for a range of good causes.

The day began with a delightful breakfast on the terrace, fuelling the players for 18 holes of golf. Following the tournament, the festivities continued with a highly praised BBQ, a prizegiving ceremony, and a live auction, with celebrations extending well into the night.

A Great Day Out for Charity

Christophe Rindlisbacher, Director of Golf at Pinheiros Altos, expressed his gratitude for the day, saying, “What a wonderful day we all had. It’s heartwarming to see members, friends, and guests come together, have a great time, and raise so much money for such worthy causes. We’d like to thank JJW Hotels and Resorts, our parent company, for the courtesy of the golf course and for subsidising the food along with Vila Alvor and our President David Markey for subsidising the wine. And to the incredible staff and active members, thank you
for making this day possible.”

In addition to the tournament, the event was enhanced by several local supporters who added fun and excitement to the day. The Cheeky Pup provided on-course refreshments that proved popular among the players, while Golfe Jardim offered free buggy health checks and an exciting "Hole-in-One" competition run by their very own PGA professional, Ricardo Costa. Optimum Outdoor Furniture created a relaxing atmosphere at the Cheeky Pup area,
and Pingo Doce contributed with a health bar for players, a first for this year’s event. Loch Lomond Whiskies also added flavour to the event, offering a celebratory drink as players left the 18th hole.

We extend our gratitude to additional supporters, including Sandy Blue, Toldos Chique, Izzy’s, Lazer, and Conseg Insurance, who were regretfully unable to join us on the day due to scheduling conflicts. We were pleased to have teams from Compass Properties, Algarve Hot Tubs, and Forbes Project Management participate. We are incredibly thankful to all of our supporters, no matter how they contributed. Charity Auction Goes to Four Main Causes

Nigel Spokes, the Golf Club Captain, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the club's active members, highlighting their generosity, dedication, and hard work. He noted, "Even those who couldn't attend the event reached out to contribute by making donations or placing remote bids on auction items. It's truly rewarding to witness the positivity that surrounds an event like this—it really brings out the best in everyone, and binds the membership even closer together”.

David Markey, Club President and Chairman of the Pinheiros Altos Charity Committee, emphasised the impact of the event: “This is such a fabulous way of raising a significant amount of money for our chosen charities, with our friends, doing what we love. The majority of the funds raised will go to our four main charities: The Salvation Army, Algarve Oncology Unit, Alzheimer’s Association, and Casalas Children’s Home. We also retain funds to support smaller charities, and it’s a wonderful feeling to be able to help so many people.”

Mr.Markey and Mr.Rindlisbacher both extended their heartfelt thanks to the sponsors, including Reis & Reis, and acknowledged the tremendous support from countless others who contributed to the event’s success.

This year’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament not only achieved its goal of supporting localcharities but also cemented Pinheiros Altos Golf Club’s reputation as a key player in giving back to the community while fostering unity and enjoyment.
